ROCK SCISSOR PAPER Productions

Welcome to our first take on providing you with the best information for the new game, Legend of Mushroom!

Legend of Mushroom released in March 2024, and had millions of pre-registrations. In just it’s first month, it filled up over 500 servers!

LoM touts itself as an Idle Boss Fighter game, with aspects of popular brawlers included. The primary content is cross-server and internal family (guild) wars that span 3 days at a time.

Although LoM possesses (and attracts) PTW dynamics, the game is extremely friendly to free to play, and light spenders.

Additionally, in an effort to curb over spenders, the primary content (Brawls) possess a handicap for facing over-powered players.

Brawls consist of large families, anywhere from 60–80 people at a time. Servers generally load up 3 major and 6 minor families, and after two weeks, tend to consolidate down to 2 main, and 4 secondary, more casual families.

Overall the game is very fun, engaging and reminesce of games from the early 2010’s. Be careful of it’s Gacha systems, and time limited events. Mounts cost upwards of $350 USD, and other items in similar ranges. These are of course optional, but do provide unique benefits, not easily acquired by non-spenders.

With that being said, lets get to the game dynamics!

ROCK PAPER SCISSORS

There are three classes with a total of 6 subjobs in LoM

  1. Warrior
  2. Archer
  3. Mage

Each class defeats one of the other classes with general ease:

Warrior > Archer > Mage > Warrior

The builds, gear, pals and skills is what makes or breaks a character, and can temporarily impact the RockPaperScissor dynamic, but for the most part it holds true.

I belong to a theorycrafting discord, and from extensive testing we find certain classes/subjob overperform, while others underperform. Further, certain subjobs/builds make progressing through the game much easier. Unless you plan to throw money at the game to overpower through, here are the subjob metas currently:

Lv1–100 Mage, specifically Healer > Chronomancer

Lv100–120 Archer, Specifically ArrowGod > Plume Monarch

Lv120+ Warmonger/WarBringer (Warrior-Axe)

This path, especially for low or non-spenders is key to follow to succeed as efficiently as possible. Also, consider remaining Plume Monarch at 120 if you do not plan on spending.

Note: Completely free to play may find archer from 1–120, wind to be their most efficient path.

Class to avoid: Warrior — Swordsman (extremely undervalued comparatively)

Cool, yet unefficient — Martial Sage (Tanky Mage)

Almost as good as Wind, Sharpshooter Archer can be niche powerful.

Currently the progress path through idle pvp faces you against a rotating design of ten bosses.

Each Boss is the same in each dungeon, just powered up to match your level.

Bosses take on one o fthe 6 possible job features, with their own unique spin.

I won’t go over the boss dynamics here just yet, so keep an eye out for a future article.

In order to progress the game, you must use the lamps you earn through various means to randomly pull specified rarities of random gear.

Each job has specific characteristics for their primary pve and/or pvp build.

At level 95, you gain the ability to build 2 gearsets, and at 115, a third.

These can be used to either maximize your primary job for pvp&pve, or to dual class. For example, I use an axe class for pvp, but an archer class for pve activity, thus I have a counter set, and a combo set, separately from each other. It is good to know you can od this early on, so you do not waste rarity gear.

Players can pull skills and pets (aka pals) from a built in gacha machine. Just like the lamp, these machines can be increased through usage, to gain access to rarer stuff (the lamp uses gold to “level up”)

Pals and Pets are incredibly important. The most important piece to look for is att he beginning — heal and shield.

This combination makes your idle hero able to sustain massive damage from bosses, and in pvp. Eventually however, you will need to use manual combat for bosses, so your heal does not launch prematurely and get wasted while shield is up.

We can deep dive skills and pals in a future article as well.

A big point not to miss is banners. Although free-to-play friendly, I highly suggest getting a couple of the lifelong banners.

The first, and most important of these, is the unlimited no ad banner. Suprisingly, several activities in the game can provide a large amount of resource simply by watching an ad. The banner allows you to skip these and instantly receive these rewards. In some regions ads are blocked, so its even more important to get this $10 ad remover. If nothing else, buy this.
